Bicycle Film Festival comes to the Park Center

The 4th Annual Bicycle Film Festival is showing at the Park Center on Saturday, June 9, at 7:30. This year, funds raised will be going toward CAMBA’s new Hospital Gateway Trail.

The new Gateway Trail is suitable for beginning mountain bikers or those uncomfortable with narrower, more technical trails. Construction on the Hayward Hospital Trail began during the summer of 2017 with 1.3 miles of trail completed. “The ultimate plan for the trail is to build up to six miles of trail over the next two summers,” says Bergin. He adds, “We have a lot of intermediate level trails and a fair amount of challenging, difficult trail, but very little on the “easy” end of the spectrum and this trail is our effort to help bring this into balance.”

Scheduled the evening after the Borah Epic, the Film Festival is hoping to draw more out-of-town visitors who are relaxing after their bike race.

Six short films will be screened as well as the feature, Blood Road, which follows the journey of ultra-endurance athlete Rebecca Rusch and her riding partner. Their goal: to reach the crash site and final resting place of Rebecca’s father, a U.S. Air Force pilot shot down over Laos some 40 years earlier.

Concessions will be available.

Tickets are $10  and can be purchased at Art Beat, theparkcenter.com, and at the door.
